“The Prefect” by Alastair Reynolds
Rating: 2.5/3. This is a great whodunit with a very likable and believable lead character. It’s a sci-fi, but it’s really more about the characters. Even if you don’t love sci-fi generally, you will very probably find something here that will strike your fancy.
“The Six Directions of Space” by Alastair Reynolds
Rating: 2/3. This is a great short story that explores an alternate world in which the Mongols succeed in taking over the world and establishing a galactic empire. This is an excellent example of good short-style writing and I recommend it to sci-fi fans.
